Myth #1: Britain would lose control of Foreign Policy under the Constitutional Treaty



The tenor of the argument against this myth is that "united we stand and divided we fall" and that there is greater power in numbers than in isolation. Moreover, it is pointed out that Britain has not lost control of its foreign policy in the last 10 years of the EU, so why should this change under the new EU Constitution. An example is made of UN membership and Britain's seat in the Security Council, which remains.



Of course, many of the arguments that Britain makes here on its own behalf also apply to the very same questions being asked by the other Member States.
